HSE - Shell Brent Delta Shutdown

The Client
Like many other platforms in the North Sea, Shell Brent Delta was due for an annual shutdown to undergo repairs. To undertake these repairs, extra staff had to be brought in. They would therefore need to undertake the induction course required for that platform. The Sigma3 HS&E advisor organised 2 one-day induction courses, for two shifts. Generally speaking, workers who have to attend these H&S courses (and having attended many others) can become jaded and may find them boring and repetitive and will consider any and all H&S matters a very dry subject. Sigma3 wanted a fresh approach, something to grab their staff's attention whilst still conveying those highly important key-learning messages.

Appointing Fifth Dimension
In their endeavours to a find new and different way of getting across their H&S messages, and because of our involvement with Health & Safety Fifth Dimension was approached by Sigma3. They had found Fifth Dimension by way of a referral from another company in the oil sector who had praised our contributions on their H&S away day. After discussion it was decided that we should provide our Business Interventions where, after each speaker or topic, Fifth Dimension would present tailored dynamic magical effects to illustrate and reinforce the key messages and themes.

The Results
By using our unique approach, we managed successfully, to capture the imagination of their delegates and convey that everyone has to get involved and must take personally responsibility for improving safety, that we must follow the rules, that there are no short cuts, and that you CAN teach old dogs new tricks.
Sigma3 hailed us a great success. We have since been invited back to present our Business Interventions at other inductions.
